Data and Information Working Group

Introduction

A data and information working group was identified at the first international meeting on the establishment of the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (RFMO) and formed at the second international meeting. The Data and Information  Woring Group (D&IWG) is one of two technical working groups established to support the development of the South Pacific regional fisheries management organisation. The other is the Science Working Group (SWG).

The purpose of the Data and Information Working Group, in consultation with other working groups and subsidiary bodies of the SPRFMO consultations is to: identify the types of data to be collected; develop standards for the collection, verification exchange and reporting of data; and develop standards for data security, and terms and conditions for making data available.

The D&IWG conducts intersessional work on the basis of work programmes agreed by the international meetings. The intersessional work of the D&IWG is conducted via email and this website. The current workplan is on the page for the next meeting.

The D&IWG group is chaired by Kelly Denit (USA).

Participation

Participation in the data and information working group is open to all states, entities, regional economic integrated organisations and observers participating in the international meetings on the establishment of the South Pacific RFMO. Details of current key contacts are on the D&IWG contacts page.

If you are interested in joining the D&IWG, please contact Kelly Denit (Kelly.Denit@noaa.gov).
