Meetings

The first international meeting to discuss the establishment of the regional fisheries management organisation (RFMO) took place in Wellington, New Zealand, 14–17 February 2006. Subsequent meetings were held in Australia.(6 - 10 November 2006),  Chile (30 April - 4 May 2007), New Caledonia (10 - 14 September 2007), and Ecuador (10 – 14 March 2008).  The sixth meeting will be held in Canberra, Australia during 6-10 October. 

Participation in the consultation process is open to states, fishing entities, and regional economic integrated organisations with an interest in South Pacific fisheries. Relevant international & regional fisheries organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and industry groups are invited to participate as observers in negotiations of the RFMO.
